Hi! Four steps are needed to crack NET with JRF in Psychology. Step 1: Get the basics right. Read Class XI and XII along with introductory to psychology book so that your basics are strong. Step 2: Arrange syllabus of both Paper 2 and Paper 3 so that you get a consolidated syllabus. Then identify which source you are going to use to cover the different topics in the syllabus. Also, give adequate time for each topic. Step 3: Revise. Most people forget this step and later are not able to recall information in the exams. So i suggest using 1305 technique. First reading takes up 1hr +, the next time you see the information you spend 30 mins and then last revision is for only 5 mins as you are already familiar with the information. Step 4: Do not forget to concentrate on Paper 1. Getting good marks in it can automatically help you clear JRF. Step 5: Solve lot of questions and different type of questions. The key is to getting used to (condition yourself) the questions that may appear in the exams. If you do this everyday for about 30 mins for 2 months. Exam will be a piece of cake. Recommended books: Arihant Psychology, Theories of Personality by George Boeree (available for download), Social Psychology by Barron, Industrial Psychology (IGNOU material available for download), Introduction to Psychology by Zimbardo (you can also refer to barron or morgan king or kalat) I prefer zimbardo as its up to date, any good book for clinical psychology portions like carson, psychological testing by gregory, statistics by garrett. These are just some books i readily go to for any doubts. You must also rely on internet to get information not in any of the above books like changes in DSM V or thurstone model of intelligence, etc. I hope this helps! read less

It depends on the student. If your concepts and strategies are clear, then self study is sufficient. But in case of any doubt, feel free to consult a teacher.
