Types of sentences:-                                                                

  • A sentence is a “group of words”
  • There are ‘4’ types of sentences. 

            1)  Assertive sentence/

Declarative sentence/ Affirmative sentence.

Def: - which ends with full stop.

Eg:

  • She is a lecturer.
  • They are students.
  • We are doctors.
  • Interrogative sentence.

 Def: - A sentence which ends with ‘?’  mark.

Eg:

  • what is your name?
  • how old are you ?
  • which is your native place?
  • Imperative sentence.

 Def: - A sentence which is order {or} request.

Eg:

  • take your seat
  • Stop talking
  • Do what I say
  1. Exclamatory sentence.

Def: - A sentence which ends with exclamatory mark!

Eg:

  • What a marvellous building!
  • How beautiful she is!

    Alas Accident occurred!
