Has your grand father, grand mother, uncle or aunt ever corrected your Spoken English? In many parts of Tamil Nadu, especially in villages, a car was addressed as a "Pleasure" (during1960s). My father's elder brother worked as a Government Interpreter, English-Tamil-English, in Singapore during British rule and spent half span of his life there with his family. After retirement he settled down in his native town in Tamil Nadu. He used to teach English to youngsters and correct their silly mistakes too. Once we were shouting "Pleasure, pleasure" on seeing a car plying in our town. He explained how the word "Pleasure" originated. Travelling by car is still a pleasure but one used to feel overjoyed in those days. Some educated person called the experience as a "Pleasure" and villagers misinterpreted it and started calling a car a "Pleasure".
