First, learn the grammar and vocabulary simultaneously. Give your self writing and speaking task everyday and receive feedbacks from people around you who can correct you and also inspire you to do better. Start having conversations with people in english and do this everyday. Don't hesitate and keep you confidence in high spirits. Do not worry about the grammar part. You can learn it slowly by watching movies or even by learning English books. Once you follow this, you start to get a hold of the language, the words. Now you will have to choose a topic of your choice. It can be your favorite anything, or if you want to keep it simple, select a topic from the news you read. Now express your opinion (what you think about that news/incident). You can do that by standing in a room (not compulsory that you stand in front of a mirror) and speaking your mind in English. This will also help you in improving your public speaking skills. Your interest in learning the language will help you a lot in finding fun in this kind of activities. If you can get your friend to spend some time with you, ask him to talk in English to you. Just remember that Spoken English skills can be improved only by 'SPEAKING'. English is just a language dear, nobody speaks anything right out of mother's womb, so everything is acquired, it's like assembling a fresh personal computer, you have to install all required apps and programs to make it work the best; so language is a similar one; now that you have identified your problem, read simple English books like Reader's Digest first, then progress to News Papers or simple novels, and also watch Eng movies with subtitles; at first all these things will be like aliens to you, you will not understand anything, but as times goes on, you will start getting comfortable and your language will improve. The point to note here is most of the people QUIT at the initial phase where they won't understand anything thinking that it is going to be like that forever, NO THAT THOUGHT IS WRONG... if you persist you will succeed....THERE IS NO GAIN WITHOUT PAIN read less
