For the last 23 years, and till today, together with my team, we have been creating and implementing several software products and delivering software services. Computerization of Credit Societies and ‘Patsansthas’ (mini Banking ERP) in English and their regional language, ERPs for Discrete Manufacturing Industries and for Specific Service Industries like Hotel Management, Library Management, Petrol Pump Management, and Multi-Level-Marketing Management. A number of customized General Inventory and Accounts Packages, Static Websites and Web-based solutions have been created by my team since the time we started development. The roles of administrator, motivator, business analyst, implementation specialist and project manager were learnt during this period. Case 1 – Global CRM for HSBC Bank – Cinetech was asked to build the Wireframe for the Global CRM of HSBC. The task included requirement analysis, documentation of the Requirement and Wire-frame making with Adobe Fireworks. The Project was to encompass their entire CRM covering 250 Web Pages in all, including the functionality at each stage. With a diverse Workforce located in Singapore, the UK and India we completed the bulk of the Wireframe under very aggressive deadlines before the Management shifted their focus and decided on a Buy instead of Build decision. Case 2 – Cummins Emission System Requirement Specification - Cummins Emission, though an Organized Corporate Entity with Factories across India, primarily used Complex Excel Sheets to communicate between Departments and present Data across the various Functions in the Organization. They had a Collaboration Management System, Lotus Notes, which would enable the Coordination but they found much to be lacking because of no central repository of information and a need for a very flexible Workflow. They approached a Company called D5ision for making a Web based Intranet System which would be very Flexible and capture information from various Excel Sheets, retain a Central Repository of the same, combine these Documents, Process them by applying Calculations and Formulae and Transform the Reports. The System also had several other Business Requirements which were Functional, Performance and Security related. The Scope included visiting their Factories to understand the current Working Style and propose an SRS for the same. The SRS would then be reviewed by the Board and depending on Function Points, an Estimate would be arrived at by D5ision. An SRS was created for a System in this regard and handed over to D5ision, as per the Contract. Case 3 – ERP for Trading Industry – The client needed to create an integrated system involving Sales & Marketing – This was to include Pre-Sales, Sales Pipeline Management and Commission Calculation Purchase – This included Pre-Purchase, Auto-indent generation based on Forecasting and minimum stock levels Accounting – Compliance according to the Indian Government for Book of Accounts to be maintained Payroll Management – An Integrated Time Attendance and Payroll based on Flexible Formulae and Compliance according to the Indian Government for Salary and Commission Generation and Pay-out The Scope of the Work involved Requirement Analysis, Legacy System Study, Estimation, Development & Testing, Installation, Training and Maintenance. The Project was implemented in Stages and is currently running with the client since 2015.
