Go for Canon's EOS L-series lenses, if you are serious about wildlife photography - 200mm or above (with 1.6x factor for DSLRs, it becomes 320mm or higher) . Zoom lenses cause distortion, hence compromise on image quality - but provide greater flexibility compared to fixed focal length lenses. However, L-series lenses are very expensive, even though picture quality is unmatchable. For serious photography use a Canon 650D/700D or 7D body. EOS 1200D is good, but very basic and for beginners only

Also you need some more money to spend on travel, remember to become a good wildlife photographer and build the pro portfolio you need to go to different wild life sanctuaries and build the Photo-documentaries in order to impress the clients and earn the assignments. (which many photographers have done with Compact superzooms), some more money you will need to invest on Books and study your favorite birds, mammals, snakes etc before you enter into jungle. It's more important than your DSLR. read less

In that case the answer is, any camera that allows around 200-300mm Focal length is suitable. Any DSLR with long lens, or a good compact superzoom. D7100 is very good. Get a couple of lenses upto 300mm, VR or VR II, and a tele-converter, All the best

Law-aspirant, adventurist, photographer, and much much more.

How is this a question ? L= luxury, one needs a budget for that. And a 600D body is good enough to begin with.
