If you are good singer than surely you'll need some reference of tones to make good performance. After making remarkable rap videos of youtube, you can join to a band who can see your potential and skills that they find interesting to add on in their performances... Not all the bands are having same interests or criterias like you do.. So choose only such band that helps you to merge into their performances and also give equal credit to you. Joining band is not that easy, you have to be part of it and play all roles from caring instruments to handling the expenses that are distributed among the band members... Group practice and personal practice both are need extremely to give out the best of you in unique way among the crowd. Well, if you are a rapper and that is your genre, then it is one that you need to explore on your own first or with a group of other rappers together. My suggestion would be to collaborate with a few musicians depending on what instruments you require. Now here's the thing with songwriting, a lot of the time I feel that the songwriter should come up with the music as well or at least have an idea of what they would want the track to sound like because only they understand with what intention they wrote a particular song. So, it is suggested to you would be to purchase a home recording setup (if you don't have one already) and start recording demos or tracks and gather social media attention before anything else. You can even get drum tracks, bass tracks and even keyboard tracks so you can create your music. I hope this answered your query. read less
