IIT-JEE is definitely tougher than IIT-JAM as appearing in IIT-JAM due to seperate subjects have separate test like physics , chemistry, maths etc. not like a single test in iit-jee for all.

The Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) and the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for Masters (IIT-JAM) are both competitive exams in India, but they serve different purposes and target different levels of education. **IIT-JEE:** 1. **Purpose:** Admission to undergraduate programs (B.Tech) in IITs. 2. **Target Audience:** Students completing their 12th grade. 3. **Structure:** Two stages - JEE Main and JEE Advanced. 4. **Subjects Covered:** Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. 5. **Difficulty Level:** Generally considered one of the toughest undergraduate entrance exams globally. It requires a deep understanding of concepts, high problem-solving skills, and extensive preparation over several years. 6. **Competition:** Extremely high, with hundreds of thousands of students competing for a limited number of seats. **IIT-JAM:** 1. **Purpose:** Admission to postgraduate programs (M.Sc.) in IITs and other top institutes. 2. **Target Audience:** Students who have completed or are in the final year of their undergraduate studies. 3. **Structure:** Single-stage exam. 4. **Subjects Covered:** Various science subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Geology, and Mathematical Statistics. 5. **Difficulty Level:** Tough but generally considered less challenging than IIT-JEE. It focuses on the undergraduate level of understanding and is more specialized in particular subjects. 6. **Competition:** Also high, but with fewer applicants compared to IIT-JEE and targeting a different level of academic proficiency. **Comparison:** - **Scope and Depth:** IIT-JEE covers broader and deeper concepts in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the high school level, whereas IIT-JAM focuses on a specific subject at the undergraduate level. - **Preparation Time:** Students often start preparing for IIT-JEE years in advance, while IIT-JAM preparation usually starts during or after undergraduate studies. - **Number of Applicants:** IIT-JEE has a significantly larger number of applicants compared to IIT-JAM, making the competition stiffer. In summary, IIT-JEE is generally considered more challenging than IIT-JAM due to its broader scope, deeper conceptual requirements, and intense competition at the undergraduate entry level. read less
