Yes, of course you can. However, joining a coaching institute or hiring a personal tutor would boost your chances of success manifolds for a simple reason that it would increase your productivity and awareness. To elaborate: 1. You save time because you have someone teaching you the things you would have to learn for yourself 2. Institutes and tutors would set targets for you and would ensure that you are on track and not lagging behind. From their experience, they know exactly how much time and effort must be put on a given topic. This avoids wasteful expenditure of your most valuable resource, time. 3. Institutes and tutors offer a wide variety of IIT JEE relevant questions handpicked from the huge pool irrelevant questions you would be struggling with. 4. They would ensure that your knowledge is being tested on a regular basis through tests (well, you can always subscribe to a well reputed test series for this one. 5. Lastly, if you are on your own, who would solve your doubts? you'll have to rely on friends and school teachers, and trust me, they don't do the trick :) read less
