To pursue a degree in a foreign country, you need commitment, dedication and practice should begin even before you start sending out applications. One of the barricades to cross is in the process of clearing an exam that tests your English language skills. In case to crack any of these English language proficiency tests, you need to invest a lot of your time and energy in studying. Talking about difficulty level, the answer may differ from person to person and as per their experience. Moreover, every exam has its difficulty. Nevertheless, many test-takers find the PTE Academic more challenging than the IELTS because of the complicated content and vocabulary (comparatively) used in the questions. In PTE, the listening and reading sections can be based on academic readings, making it difficult for someone that doesn't have a solid grasp of the language. Moreover, this exam is a computer-based test wherein a computer program is a rater. IELTS, on the other hand, allows you to write down your essay answer and is shorter than TOEFL or PTE. However, it is also difficult to get the desired band score in the first attempt. Thus, many test-takers ended up taking twice or thrice to achieve the band score they are looking for. read less
