The IELTS Academic is conducted 48 times annually. On the other hand, the IELTS General is conducted 24 times a year. The scores are valid for two years. So ideally, you can take the test about a year or six months before you plan to move abroad or apply to universities. It is always better to give at least 7 to 12 months before the start date of your course or job abroad. It is because if you don't score well in your first attempt, then you will have ample time to prepare for your second attempt without wasting any time. It is recommended that students should spend at least 6 or 8 weeks preparing for the IELTS exam, concentrating on basic grammar, reading speed, test strategies and writing talents. Each part of the IELTS exam is diverse, so ensure that you fully comprehend what is required. Remember, to improve the score of a single section of the IELTS; you will have to retake the whole exam. So, practice a lot before you take IELTS. Here, the success formula is simple "the more you invest your time on practising, the better the result" so why waste time! Practice more and crack IELTS in the first attempt itself to avoid retaking it again and again. read less
