Practicing in front of the Mirror is like practicing driving in an empty ground! Whilst that's highly recommendable cuz beginners are a li'l reluctant to speak for fear of faltering and producing a laughable accent. But then you'll have to garner courage and show up at the traffic. Keep practicing in front of the mirror. Keep conversing in English in your head (with as many characters you want to :) ). The key is - whatever the methodology, whatever the tactic, whatever the trick, whatever the tool you adopt and adapt to - Don't S T O P. We as tutors are life long students too.
