Handwriting is important to the extent that examiner is able to read the answers without any difficulty. To improve handwriting, do handwriting practice on four lined paper, as used in nursery classes. Yes it does sound childish but that is the best way to form the words properly and legibly.

I would trade half a band for bad writing as against a high score like yours. So, congrats, and wish you all the best. By the way, 7.5 in writing being half a band below speaking, is absolutely par for the course, so i do not think your handwriting had anything to do with the result. Congrats, again!
