There is no as such Vocabulary book that helps you to stand above the crowd. The best practice is to have a dictionary and a newspaper (English). Keep a pen and a diary with you when you sit to read the paper. Reading newspaper will help you to perform better in Reading test. If you find any difficult word then note that word in your notebook and search the meaning of that word in the dictionary. This exercise is very important to enhance your vocabulary. The right use of vocabulary word is also very important for an excellent writing. Now, two things left speaking and listening. Speaking can also be done through the newpaper only. Read the newspaper on the daily basis and update your friends by sharing that news. Thus, you can enhance not only your vocabulary but IQ as well. Last part is listening, I would prefer animated movies (Without Subtitle) to learn the expressions and the dialogue timing. Dear Friend, reading the same book on an everyday basis will become boring after few days but reading the latest news on regular basis and spending 1 hour for listening will bring fun during practice. Have a great time. read less

My sincere suggestion would be that do not go for any book just for the sake of only vocabulary. This would be just over burdening yourself. I would suggest, practice reading passages as many you can. For writing, it is wastage of energy and time to read newspapers and things like that. The more directional learning would be read well written essays and learn how to structure your sentences in distinctive manner. For that prefer Barron's book of writing or APEX by Poonam Bedi. read less
