All you need to do is not focus so much on the exam, but you need to deliver on the language. If you look at it in terms of the score you need to achieve, anxiety will creep in. Rather, please think of the exam as a stage to flaunt your language skills and give it your best shot!

Undoubtedly, taking deep breaths and meditation help you in conquering your anxiety naturally but indeed it is true that when you are in an examination hall under a time-based pressurizing situation you won't find any of this method. In my opinion, to overcome anxiety best way is to practice each module of IELTS exams as much as possible before the final test. At least, practice 3-4 mock tests in the same format before doomsday. Hard work is the key to success. :)

Hey Jaspreet,The first thing you need to do is- trust yourself and practice the modules you are not confident about. Never take the IELTS exam as a burden when you enter there. English is a language, and everyone has a different way to proceed with it.

Take a deep breath and relax before entering the hall. During the preparation time, make sure to take as many mock tests as possible with the time bounds and make sure your surrounding resembles the main exam centre. Doing this will get your brain accustomed to the pressure.

You can practice more before you appear for the test. Try to write and communicate more in English with your friends and family. Give as many as possible moc tests before the actual test. That will give you some idea of the exam. While taking mock tests, you should pretend it to be the main test. In this way, you won't be facing new issues in the final exam. Hi, Jaspreet,

I was also like you. I prepared a lot for my IELTS, but I was unable to score my desirable band during the exam because of anxiety and lack of confidence. However, when I appeared the second time, I scored 7.

Here are some tips that I used to overcome my anxiety and become confident in front of the examiner.

  1. Take a daily speaking interview with your friend or tutor so that you can become familiar with IELTS speaking.
  2. Be serious during your speaking interview and speaking naturally.
  3. For reading, try to read other books of your interest so that during the exam you become able to concentrate.
