If you're of a non-English country, who wants to migrate to Canada or wants to go abroad to study in Canada, then you'll have to take up an English Proficiency test like IELTS or even PTE Academic tests. This will aid in getting admissions in reputed colleges depending on your score and as per the university or the college requirements. To get into Canada for study purpose or migration, you'll have to take up one of these exams. Most of the universities widely accept IELTS for UG, PG or MS programs. For MS, you need at least 6.5 overall bands, with no less than 6 in any module. Similarly, for UG and PG, you need six overall bands with no less than 5.5 in any module. Nowadays, most of the universities accept PTE Academic, in place of IELTS, and there is no visa refusal based on the PTE Academic test. read less

Yes Ielts is mandatory for Student Visa in Canada and same as in any other foriegn Country ....But Student can give PTE exam too .PTE exam is easier to clear than IELTS.
