Today we can see over consumption of natural resources such as air, water, oil and so on. The usage is increasing at a very dangerous pace and is already reaching critical levels. What are the reasons contributing to this? What should be done to minimise this?

The 21st century is witnessing an excessive use of the natural resources. The consumption of the same is rising at an alarming rate and has reached a critical stage already. Several causes play a significant role in this situation. Stringent steps must be taken to mitigate this issue. This essay will provide a detailed analysis of the reasons along with the relevant solutions.

There are a number of reasons why people are consuming a great amount of resources. The paramount reason is the utilisation of resources in a haphazard manner. Owing to the hectic and modern lifestyle of human beings, they tend to waste the precious gift of mother nature. In the fast-paced world, less number of individuals seem to take care of the same. For example, it is evident in every house that an enormous quantity of water that is unused goes into the drain. Apart from this, the ever-increasing population is the root cause of this worsening situation. With the rise in masses increasing amount of air, drinking water and oil will be required. Therefore, to limit the utility of such non-renewable sources population must be controlled.

However, fortunately there exists possible ways to reduce this problem. Imposing higher taxes on the non-renewable sources is one of the most implementable solutions. When public will be required to pay huge bills for using resources like water, which they used to get for free, then they would be able to realise the value of the same. Moreover, government must educate the public about the controlled use of such sources. For instance, free campaigns should be
organised at various places to teach people about the importance of valuable resources.

To recapitulate, the careless use of the natural resources which has stemmed from the problem of over-population has turned out to be the chief cause for over usage of such resources. Nevertheless, careful examination of their use along with the government's efforts could ameliorate the problem.
