How do I get 7 bands in all modules of the IELTS exams? The answer to this question lies in the format of the test. Nowhere will you find it, but according to me, there are 2 distinct patterns, quantity and quality. Once you understand this simple factor, it is quite easy to prepare for the test. Quantity refers to Reading and Listening. The reading module requires you to answer 40 questions and- for the academic version- 30-32 right answer will fetch you band 7, whereas for the general version, you need to get 34-35 questions correct. As far as listening module is concerned, 30-31 right answer will reward you with band 7. Now, the problem arises with the other two modules- how do we determine band 7 for speaking and writing? There are plethora of experts and pundits on the You Tube and the internet world, who all have their own expert and sure shot advise and guidance tips. Yet, it is almost impossible to separate a band 6.5 with a band 7 candidate. That is why, without fail, a review for 6.5 has always resulted in a positive review, provided the trainer and the candidate were sure and confidant of the candidate’s performance. But, generally, in speaking the confident level of the candidate is important and instinctive use of English and conversational ability always fetches band 7 or more. As far as writing is concerned, sentence construction, zero grammatical errors, paragraphing, staying within the parameters of the topic and usage of vocabulary range of a high standard always points towards a band 7 or more user. read less
