Listen to audio books and many oelts practice books come with cds so practice with those. Listening to interviews of American British and Australian celebrities would be helpful too.

The IELTS test has 4 modules, and I think, Listening is perhaps, the easiest module. Now the questions asked here is- How can I improve my IELTS listening? Well, I presume the question refers to IELTS in particular and it is not a general question. In accordance, I will answer with that in mind. The Listening modules has 4 sections. The first section will have 2 people talking to each other and, the candidate will hear the audio and answer 10 questions. The conversation is about every day, mundane issues, therefore you must prepare yourself to understand specifics, such as names, street address, credit card or telephone numbers etc. So, it should not be too difficult a section. The second section is always a monologue. It could be a tourist guide speaking about the tour, an agriculturist explaining crop patterns etc. Here also 10 questions emerge as the challenge for the candidates. In my experience, those looking for a high score in this module of the IELTS test, normally get 20 out of 20 right up to this section. Section 3 gets a bit more difficult, with 2/4 people conversing. It could be a professor talking with his students or a sales manager discussing strategies with his sales team. And finally, section 4 is always an academic lecture, dry and boring. Challenge here is to get involved with the lecture and that helps. To summarise, keep all this in the mind and practiceaccordingly. read less
