To get a band of 7 in IELTS, you need to be good at all the four modules, listening, writing, speaking and reading. It also depends on your current command over English. Start your preparation for the exam, at least four months prior. Practice one module in a month and move on to the next one. Read the newspapers and other books which is going to improve your vocabulary. Since each module has a time constraint, you'll have to practice every day and try to complete the module within that particular time. This is going to increase your pace and decrease the possibility of making mistakes. read less

It really depends on your current hold on English, and how well you can perform with the types of questions presented in the exam under each section. Then, practicing them with a tutor would enable you to get a 7 or more band in each section.

I am having problem with the listening section in IELTS. My specific problem is with last part of listening section where the pace of information is high and you have to understand it all to answer questions 31 -40 .
You can definitely focus on the keywords or connecting words in the question and try focussing on the words being spoken during the listening test. This will enhance the probability of you spotting the right answer against the noted keywords.
