If you want to work, you must take IELTS General test and if you want to pursue higher studies, you must take IELTS Academic test. These are two different entities and one is not an alternative for the other, so no question of easy or not, which anyways is subjective. However, in both the listening and speaking parts are same(common). Only reading and writing parts are different for General as against Academic. read less
