These are two different entities and one is not an alternative for the other, so no question of easy or not, which anyways is subjective. However, in both the listening and speaking parts are same(common). Only reading and writing parts are different for General as against Academic. read less

To work in UK it is better to take the UKVI version of the General test. (Note The UKVI test is slightly more expensive than the standard IELTS test.) Thanks.
