Canadian PR is a point based assessment system and IELTS is one of the component. IELTS can fetch you 16 to 24 points. Each modules can get 6, 6.5 and 7 points, depending on your score. Certainly, you can. Canadian PR is base on a number of criteria and IELTS is one of those. IELTS will fetch the candidate points based on each module. For example, 6 band will fetch 4 points, so is you get 6 bands in each of the 4 modules, you get 16 points. Now, these points are added to the points you have accrued from other criteria’s, such as age, qualifications, experience, marital status and so on and so forth. Another factor is express entry, the IELTS points remain the same but the importance gathers more importance. Therefore, its best to consult with a Canadian immigrant lawyer. read less

It is a preferred option to get 8 7 7 7, aka 8 in listening, and 7 bands in Reading, writing n speaking. If you are applying as a dependent then your 6.5 bands are all right. But as a primary applicant, getting above 6 in each of the grids with a C1/C2 is a better one for an immigration visa
