Need hierarchy is given by Maslow to understand how human has been motivated to achieve better. And the motivation comes from need. The hierarchy has been placed on 5 layers of a pyramid. Where the 1st layer is defining the most basic need i.e the bottom of pyramid. This need talks about the motivation comes to satisfy our basic needs such as hunger, thirst, sleep etc. The next need is safety, which is the 2nd level of hierarchy. The 3rd need is social recognition which starts after 1st two needs are met and we motivate to achieve 3rd level. the 4th level is known as self esteem. And the 5th level is self actualization. read less
