Can I learn electric guitar without learning the acoustic guitar?

You can start right in on electric guitar. There is no need to learn acoustic guitar first. They have different functions within a band, but the rudiments and theory are the same.

What happens to my guitar if I don't play it for a long time?

It will likely go out of tune. The wood could go bad if it gets too dry or too humid, changing the timbre of the sound. Also, the strings may lose their pluck and need to be replaced .

What's generally easier to learn: the violin or guitar?

It takes at least three years to sound even decent on the violin and three months to sound good on guitar. Huge difference!

I would not buy online. Every violin sounds a little different, and many are very poorly made. A bad violin will never sound good, and you will get discouraged quickly. I suggest finding a way to get to a shop and ask the shop to play it and show you how it sounds. Otherwise, the other thing you could... ...more
