I would not buy online. Every violin sounds a little different, and many are very poorly made. A bad violin will never sound good, and you will get discouraged quickly. I suggest finding a way to get to a shop and ask the shop to play it and show you how it sounds. Otherwise, the other thing you could do is hire a violin teacher to find a suitable violin for you.
