A modes are special scales which bring out specific moods. Modes are as good as raagas of Indian classical music. The only difference is that origin of each mode is either of you seven notes of a major scale which itself is one of the modes (Ionian) or pure major.

When you listen to a major scale or a song composed using major scale, you'll get a happy feeling and for minor scales you'll get a sad, emotional or may be an aggressive feel.same way modes also gives u different emotions and feelings and it is up to you, how you interpret yourself to those feelings of the desired mode and compose a song using the modes. For example if u want to compose a song which has a tension in it, you would use a Phrygian mode and so on. read less

Hi Saif, Is you question - What is modes? If so, these are different starting positions of the Scales which give rise to different intervals and thus a whole new sound.
