If you are through with the basic and intermediate level of learning then you can switch to electric guitar else you shall stick to acoustic guitar only. As you'll have to change your style of playing the electric guitar because of the string and hence the sound sensitivity. Being a classical guitar player the difference you'll notice on electric will be too contrasting but still it depends on your goal and your skill level. Also that to go for electric guitar you'll have to delve into the add-on stuff like amplifiers, effect pedals, guitar cables, guitar intonation, pick ups and their adjustments and such, to get a great sound. These things comes in large variety and you can experiment and explore a lot with these but it involves a lot of cost and time too to do that all. read less

study all the techniques which are needed for an Electric Guitar. We need certain controls and techniques to play on an electric Guitar. According to me you should try an acoustic Guitar first. Clear your basics and Techniques and then switch to an electric. Thanks

Guitar Classes

There are various other techniques at play in electric guitar mainly muting and riffing. Riffing and soloing concepts are different. For a distorted guitar, plectrum is must. I would like to know which grade you are in so that i can be more specific in my answer.
