I am not being able to divide the time between quant and verbal for GRE. I have the official guide of ETS . Help me with the time I should devote to each section in order to score more than 320.

I would suggest you take a mock test and divide the preparation time for each section based on your mock test score. Usually the verbal section takes more time since it is much more difficult than the quant section.

SNIGDHA getting 320 in GRE is relatively easier. Near full score in Quant and 150 - 155 in Verbal will get you thru 320. Focus more on comparisons sums and Graphs as most of the students loose score in these. Focused preparation of 3 months will do. Daily 2 hours consistent practice is enough to surpass...

Hi Snigdha. I believe, rather than dividing each day/study session between the two sections, you should stick to 'one-section-per-day/peer-reviewed study session' schedule. I believe it's more important that you understand and be able to apply what you have learned exhaustively, than learning more. Of course, I would recommend dedicating a certain amount of time to reading everyday, because reading skills cannot be developed overnight. Plus, being able to read, read fast and comprehend what you've read will help you not only on the verbal section but the quant section too. That's because most of the test takers are perfectly capable of memorizing math formulas, but being able to comprehend and decide what formula to apply (what exactly is the question asking) is where problems arise. When we read and learn something, it takes sometime before it really sinks into our subconscious and 'come to us' automatically. And don't forget to keep a record of the new words that you learn (verbal) and the formulas you learn (quant). Best of luck. read less

You need to spend more time on the sections you are weak. I do not know whether you are weak in Quants or Verbal as you have not shared your scores on the tests you have taken. You need to spend more time on the weaker sections.

Hi Snigdha, I think what you need is a proper plan of attack. For this you need to map out your strengths and weakness in both Verbal and Quant, topic wise and question format wise. You need to then allocate time to gain proficiency in each of these. Also you need to do practice exercises and tests to check your proficiency. So this time-allocation will depend on introspecting on your strengths and weaknesses. It is not as much the number of hours as what you do in those hours and how you study, and how you track your progress. These are the important things. You can message me if you want detailed instructions on how to go about it. I can draw up a time table for you, if you wish. Thank you. read less

Give a full test and see which section you are weak in. Also, identify which types of questions your are getting incorrect. I recommend you devote 6 hours a week to the types of questions you are weak in. Most of the times, students spend 6 hours a week on RC and Vocab. However, this varies as per student...

Set small targets initially. Make a group of 6 to 12 questions then try to do in 8 to 15 minutes. When you reached at a level where you start doing question within 75 seconds then increase number of question and time.
