"It has been almost a year since I started learning violin from Mr. Bhanu Roy. His experience and knowledge in genres of Hindustani Classical, Film Music, Carnatic Music and Western classical is exceptional. Starting from basic lessons, he has taken me step by step - from playing octaves, oscillations, chords in different time signatures, different bowing techniques ranging from tango to staccato, to compositions ranging from Indian classical - Yaman Kalyan, Tilak-Kamod, Khammaz, Rock Jog (A jazz rendition of Raga Jog), Raga Jhinjhoti, Raga Hamsdhwani along with a number of Bollywood songs inspired from these ragas, to western classical – Edelweiss, Morning Has Broken, Blue Danube Waltz, Waltz No.2 from Shostakovich, The God father theme. Attention is also drawn towards understanding the similarities and differences between the western & Indian classical. Sir is a perfectionist who has always inspired us to pay equal attention on practice and theory. Sir makes sure to focus on the style of compositions, its character and the mood and how that corresponds to playing on the instrument.
