I have been conducting Guitar, Ukulele, Music Theory and Vocal lessons (Indian Classical Music) classes for the past 10 years, from the very basics to advanced levels, along with vocals on guitar. Throughout these 10 fruitful years, I have come across and taught learners of all ages, be they young children, teens, adults, or the elderly. In addition to my regular instructions, I always place an emphasis on fundamental musical knowledge, practice methods, and building musicianship skills. I conduct sessions with structured lessons for beginners so that one can learn the basics of instrument with ease. The basics are covered in almost six months, which includes overall anatomy, study, and playing. As music is a vast and endless subject, consistency, patience, and time are the keys to success when it comes to sharpening your skills on the instrument. There are two things I constantly focus on with every student: the technical and theoretical elements of music. Once the concept is clear, it gets easier to learn any other instrument. I teach Guitar, Ukulele, Hindustani Classical Vocals training, and Baritone Ukulele. Concept-based teaching methodology: • Guitar/Ukulele Anatomy. • Fingerstyle picking with chord progressions. • Plectrum picking: alternate exercises along with solos, scales, and tabs. • Chords: the caged form system of chords It is helpful in memorizing the chords on the entire fretboard. The CAGED system covers each and every chordal form on the guitar, which is very helpful in various genres of guitar playing. • Rhythm: playing rhythm in different time signatures. Later on, these time signatures are implemented with backing tracks and songs. • Various finger dexterity exercises. • Accompaniment to singing: It is the most crucial part of guitar learning. It doesn’t matter if the learner is a good singer or not. The motive behind singing with the guitar is to get the exact essence of rhythm along with swift and clean chord switching. • Introduction to scales, open scales, and CAGED-form scales. Improvisation with scales and forming melodious lead phrases. • Formation of intervals, scales, and chord progressions. • Modes: Musical modes organize the distinct tonalities present within the sequence of notes in any parent scale. Modes in music are scale-like patterns that can begin on any note of the scale, not just the root. Every note in the parent scale has its own chordal harmony. • The Circle of fifth concept, its use, and its implementation while playing. • Study and playing of Indian classical music through Sargam listening. • Study and playing of Western classical music through staff notation reading.

We help and encourage our students to understand not only his/her instrument of learning but also to understand other instruments. For eg., a guitar student is encouraged to sing and play the instrument and understand drums and piano parts. Similarly a drummer is encouraged to know the vocal lines and understand the guitar & keyboard parts; likewise a bassist should understand drum grooves and guitar & piano lines. PSM specialises in contemporary western music. Apart from practical training, the syllabus covers music fundamentals of music theory, ear test, performance, music technology necessary for a complete education in music.

My way of teaching music is not bound to any set of rules. I believe that every art is a symbol of freedom and should be learnt that way. Each and Every style has features which when used together can create Masterpieces. I use the western singing techniques along with Hindustani techniques to teach music. I also teach Mic handling and help students fight the Stage Fear to perform confidently. My biggest advantage as a tutor is that there is fun involved in the sessions and its a two way learning process. I have seen people teaching the syllabus to the students and end the sessions with it. My focus is always on real learning where you know your voice more and how your body reacts to different experiments with voice. Its a very deep subject, not at all limited to any syllabus. I crave to know more and more about the different ways of using and building once vocals' strength which makes me passionate about what I do.
