Carnatic or Karnāṭak music is commonly associated with the southern part of India. It is mostly sung in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Carna' means ear and 'atakam' means ornaments/jewellery. As this form of music is very soothing to the ear hence, it got its name Carnatic music.
