In physical change only the state of matter changes, no new substance is formed. Eg. On heating water is changed in to vapour and on cooling it is changed in to ice. While in chemical change a totally new substance is formed. Eg. Rusting of iron.

In physical change, no chemical bonds are broken or formed (like boiling of water, water remains H2O in both liquid and vapour form) whereas in chemical change the bonds are either broken or formed that leads to a different substance formed.
