"I am the last ( but definitely not the least) to share my Ashram retreat feelings. Just to start off with how yoga and 136.1 came to my life.I joined 136.1 on the 1st of Dec 2010.One of the early members and without second thought I had taken annual membership without even having a trial class ,though I was taking yoga for the very first time in my life .The purpose to join was very very materialistic- just to lose weight.Within few days of joining ,I felt so much involved that I got myself fully committed to it and in no time people saw changes in me not only the external but also from within. The purpose of joining became no more important to me.I was more in exploring yoga and understanding it to the best. If I am not wrong I think I saw the mail from 136.1 during the month of September giving the details about the retreat at BIHAR SCHOOL OF YOGA which was to happen in December .Without any hesitation and thought , I confirmed my participation. The only reason was I never visited an ASHRAM before and I always wanted to experience the ashram life. The wait to take this trip was making me excited day by day and I was not worried about anything - the unknown people coming for the trip ,the cold weather predicted ,etc etc. . I was very focused and eagerly waiting to experience the ashram life. Finally the day came where I was in the airport with the group and the dream journey was tuning to reality. The unknown members of group soon became very well known friends in just less than few hours.Yash and Shantanu were always there to make it more comfortable and memorable. We had few hours of leisure at Kolkatta which helped us in having a small city tour with Yash and the highlight was tasting the famous chats of Kolkatta .Yash, I can never forget the thikkapanipuris. We reached Munger and I was amazed to enter the gates of Bihar School of yoga .First ever entry to ashram .I was given a room to be shared with the most wonderful room mate .Mrs Uma we not only looked mother-daughter like but she did take care of me like a mother whole of the trip ,Thank you Uma for being such a wonderful roommate and mother . We were not only given same room but to our surprise the same seva which made the bond more thicker ,we were together all day right from the early morning yoga section to the night keerthan .Though we not with the group ,we still did not miss them because of the wonderful schedule which kept our mind and heart always busy. The discipline of Munger reminded that indeed it was a School of Yoga . I loved every bit of the life I lived - from morning 4 am bath in cold water yoga class at 5 am , the satsaangs ,the enchanting havan which was faster than lighting I guess, amazing seva of serving food and the bhajans in the night to end the day every bit still fresh in mind. The day came went we had to leave Munger and go to Rikhia. We all felt sad in leaving one member of our group Mr Bharat who had to return home.We indeed missed him for the rest of our trip. The travel was by road to Rikhia but it started with the Ganga dip. .My first ever Ganga Dharshan and dip which I never ever dreamt of and will never ever forget too. During the travel I remember Yash mentioning that we were going to our mother's place .Little did I imagine what it was until I reached and personally experienced it. We reached Rikhia ,to our surprise we find that sanyasins were aware of our arrival and were ready to receive us, that very point touched us.From the very moment the warmth of the mother's home was felt in every singal moment. The very first short meeting with Swami Satsaangi and her promise to meet us again to have detail talk and her concern to find out from us whether we are all comfortable with the stay. No words can explain - now I knew what Yash had meant. Rikhia - the village which was so much peaceful, made everyone of us feel the peace deep down in our mind and soul. The unforgettable early morning walk in the misty road at 5am to start off our day which we longed to take every other morning with more and more pleasure and the same way was our return walks in the dark lonely road with our torch lights, singing our own bhajans were amazing too.The personalized schedule which was planned for our Chennai group was such a perfect one. We as a group stayed together the whole day from the yoga classes, the very special and first time experience of AnterMounaclass, detailed yoga nidraclass, sevas, meal times and the bhajans. The first day Bhajan had a warm surprise to welcome us - the small girls performed Bharatnatyam which touched us so much. From the everyday food to the last day music and light fountain show specially arranged to bid farewell to us,made us feel so special.I cannot be without mentioning the noble deed which the ashram did - giving prashad bags to the near-by villagers which had clothes and food. This the ashram has been doing every year and it goes for almost 2 months. And we were blessed to have a small part in helping the ashram to do this noble work and no words to explain the feelings we felt in doing this - ABSOLUTE BLISS. Finally I conclude - last but never never the least ,the personal time our group had with Swami SATSANGI which gave us an opportunity to talk our hearts to her and her loving answers which cleared every single questions we had. And to my special personal question which I wrote to her - she gave me 2 minutes of total personal time of hers to talk to me in total privacy - tears flowed my eyes the whole of 2 mins for the love and care she showed to me. "I completed 1 month of my class with Renu Mam's weight loss yoga and I would like to share my experience. I must say I decided to join yoga with much scepticism. My scepticism was soon broken after my first class with Renu Mam and to my surprise within 1 week my body started feeling good, and the second week I noticed that my metobolism and endurance level had also gone up. I have lost inches and body weight. Motivated and Energetic classes indeed. Thank you Renu Mam for the life changing experience. My best wishes to the team of 136.1. "

About us

Bharatiya Yog Sansthan (Regd.) came into being on 10th April 1967, it is non-sectarian, social, cultural and non-profit making organization. It firmly believes in Bharatiya cultural heritage and aims to re-establish by protecting and preserving it. It draws its inspiration from the lofty human ideals of Bharatiya culture viz 'Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam' - Entire Universe Is Our Family and 'Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu', 'Sarve Bhaventu Sukhina' - may all be happy, may all being rejoice in joy and happiness and the like as 'Live 'N' Liven' - may all live for the service of humanity and inspire others to live in the service of Almighty. To fulfill this aim Sansthan has chosen Yog as its means. The genesis of Yog has been adopted on the lines enshrined by Maharishi Patanjali. Healthy Living- Happy Living? Our focus is the most burdened and stressed family person who has dual responsibility to keep his or her family floating in this turbulent world. Such a person is most precious asset of our society and his health is a prime concern to the Sansthan. The Sansthan has designed an hour?s programme, which has to be followed on daily basis. He or she will be required to do Asans for 30 minutes. These are further categorised i.e. standing, sitting, on knees, on stomach, on back. One should do minimum of one Asan daily from each of the above category. This is First Part of one hour catering to the requirement of Physical Fitness. Paranayam follows the above as second part for 20 minutes. It is also inclusive of ?Hansi Yog? and ?Tratak?. This Second Part is designed for the Mental Fitness of an individual Sadhak. Thought is the ?cosmic energy? of the body and need to be harnessed on daily basis. Thus, the third part is of 10 minutes consisting of ?dhyan? and ?chanting of mantras? and ?prayer?. In keeping with the above principles and methodology, Sansthan is presently conducting more than 1800 FREE Yog centers where lakhs and lakhs of people from all castes, creeds, sections, rich, poor, young, old, men, women, have or are being benefited at all the levels of human existence - physical, mental and spiritual. The aspirant is made to practice Yog for an hour and gradually acquires skill to teach Yog to others. The distribution of time is as under: - All the Yog centers follow the same pattern on everyday basis and are run by local representatives to give benefit to the residents residing around that center. Thus, expert selfless Yog teachers conduct the centers free of cost. By gradually and regularly practicing Yog, a selfish becomes selfless person. He begins doing well to others without expecting any reward. Thus, he is able to shun greed in his lifetime and resultantly all other ailments of mind. Sansthan therefore enables each and every individual to become ?Niskam Karmyogi? i.e. a Selfless Karmyogi?. Sansthan's Vision? To fulfill its aims and objects, Sansthan has constructed Yog Ashram - Cum- Research Centre where training is imparted through various short and long term courses, efficiency classes, seminars, interaction, yogabhyas etc. The energy, thus, sublimated through these various courses shall make the aspirant grow a selfless efficient worker of ?Vanprasthi? (one who makes his livelihood on his own but serves the society without expecting any reward) in nature (who shall depict their life not through words but by deeds). The Centre thus helps the Sansthan to search talent which is a continuous future requirement of our society.
