Hello, I'm 38 year non technical professional and already working in reputed technical company and would like to move to web development side, Is too late to start this journey as I've to learn Programming Language. My company asked me to through Salesforce Administration/Developers modules as start. I would like to know what are the skills i need to acquire to become good SF developers? Is programming language mandatory to become SF developer. Any suggestion and guidance is really appreciated.

Hi Nirmala, First of all, age is no bar in learning and developing new skills. Also, learning programming and coding could be fun. Whether programming is a requirement to start working as a Salesforce developer: It mostly depends on the job profile but in general they say that prior programming experience is not required to start working on Salesforce. One can directly start working on Salesforce and learn it's proprietary coding languageslanguages on the job. It might be easier to work on Salesforce development if one has prior knowledge of Java and SQL. I always recommend that everyone (whether in programming or not) should learn atleast one procedural programming language. read less

While programming is not a requirement for working on Salesforce, some suggest that it's easier to pick Salesforce programming languages if one has some knowledge/experience of/with Java and SQL
