Value of pi is 3.14159 where as 22/7 equals to 3.142857. As it is clear that 22/7 is greater than the value of pi.

That is an approximation. The actual pi is an irrational number, so it cannot be expressed as the ratio of two integers. The Wikipedia page also contains information on why some people believe pi to be 22/7. Archimedes proved is less than 22/7.
