There is no shortcut to gain command on vocabulary. A person can confidently say that he/she has mastered a word when he/she can use it in a sentence of his/her own. The best way is to read a lot and also learn to use the words in own sentences as and when you come across. Word Power made easy by Norman Lewis is a good book to refer. In general my mantra, is read a lot and use the dictionary and thesaurus as much as you can. These days, with access to internet, looking up a word for its meaning and synonyms is very easy. read less

It is for my daughter, who is in 12th standard. When I asked her what she would like to do after the 12th, she is pretty much confused and said that I want to study something that will generate possibilities to travel around the world after graduation.
