Play c e g with fingers 5 3 1 of your left hand. This is the tonic chord of C major. Then play B F G with fingers 5 2 1 (chord G7) which is the dominant. You could also add C F A with fingers 5 2 1 (chord F major or sub-dominant. A nice progression is C-F-G7-C

C, F, G chords are pretty basic, the notes in the chord being all natural makes it very easier to progression. Some minors like Dm, Em, Am & Bm are also pretty basic in minor section. In case of 7th chord G major is very handy with all four notes natural.
