A Tarana composition is usually sung in the same raga in vilambit (slow) and drut (fast) laya in order to create an interesting variation. Usually Taranas are sung in a very fast tempo. Tarana singers are required to have a good practice in tongue-twisting syllables.

Why is carnatic music overshadowed by Hindustani and Western when Carnatic music is the source of everything?
Depends on various facts such as the regional interest by music enthusiasts and authorities who conducts programmes, fan/rasikas base, govt authorities/organisation who promotes programmes/events.

What all things should I consider before hiring a Carnatic music teacher?
First of all a teacher should be able to teach every thing that will be asked by the students. So he or she should be well learned in the subject and have good command on it.A teacher should be sincere in teaching the subject to the student.
