Even if you join the Civil Services at 30, you have thirty years of service. Most likely you’ll retire in the rank of Additional Secretary to Government of India. This is just one rank below the highest level ie. of a Secretary. In the IFS, you’ll have served as Ambassador in one or more countries before you retire. If Civil Services fascinate you, it’s better to spend 30 years in a job you like rather than spending 40 years in a job you don’t like. So, 26 isn’t too late to start preparing for UPSC. read less

How to know the exam pattern of UPSC exam ?
Nothing just search for upsc recent exam syllabus in Google search with the related job posting , usually it has aptitude and reasoning part for the first part exam and the related English and technical syllabus theory for part to exam.
