First of all....To become an IAS , you must think like an IAS in every aspect of life. For example: A common man's reaction to a news about be outrageous or disruptive but as an IAS officer, you must react constructively. Your thought should naturally flow in analysing the problem, to find root cause of problem in the news sample and how to alleviate or remedie the problem for better good of society. I know ..to build up such thought processes naturally... takes time and this is exactly what you would be doing during your exam preparation. There are many of coaching institutes of repute imparting good training to prepare for IAS exams. To name few...like Vision IAS classes, Vaziram & Ravi ( in Delhi only), ALS. read less

Many options if you wish for a govt job. Also try for other exams conducted by UPSC such as CAPF, ICAR etc. Try for CGL by SSC and thirdly many vacancies are in banking and insurance sector through IBPS and other organisations

How to achieve IAS officer?
Once you understand the pattern and syllabus thoroughly, you should break down your study plan into short term goals. And complete each subject and concept one at a time. It takes almost a year and a half to gain control over the exam.
