The minimum eligibility to write the UGC NET exam in India is as follows: 1. *Age Limit*: There is no upper age limit for the UGC NET exam. 2. *Education Qualification*: - For General Category: Master's degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (without rounding off) from a recognized university. - For OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender: Master's degree or equivalent with at least 50% marks (without rounding off) from a recognized university. 3. *Subjects*: The candidate should have studied the subject they are applying for in their Master's degree or equivalent. 4. *Appearing Candidates*: Candidates who are in the final year of their Master's degree or equivalent can also apply, but they need to complete their degree within two years from the date of the NET result declaration. 5. *Ph.D. Holders*: Candidates who have completed their Ph.D. degree can apply, but they will be exempted from the eligibility criteria of 55% or 50% marks. Since you have done PG and interested on job you may start teaching in any of the Engineering colleges and register for Ph.D also as an external candidate. You should also write UGC NET exam in your field

Will clearing UGC net be difficult?
Yes its is difficult as out of 5 lakh aspirants around 25,000 clear UGC NET every 6 months. But with due preparation and consistency you can surely clear the exam. I qualified my UGC NET Exam with Economics subject in June 2014.
