Both IDP and British Council organise IELTS. The only difference is who will provide you with the certificate, but the examination level and scale are the same.

Students from all across the globe are utilizing it.Both are similar as far as test level is concerned. One arbitrary piece of advice is that appear from smaller town for the test for IELTS.
