If you want to improve your reading score in exams like IELTS or TOEFL, then the first thing you need to do is to put in some time to improve where you're going wrong. Which part of it is consuming your time? If you know this, then you can put in more efforts in that particular field.

Start watching videos on youtube, preferably with subtitles. This can improve your pace, instead of going with your own pace. Your score in reading and any other module is directly proportional to the number of mock tests you take. You can start solving the practise tests because they are almost of the same level as that of the exam.

One main suggestion is that you have to avoid skimming and scanning through the pages. This will not help you increase the clarity in your reading. Read them to absorb every idea and not to get an overall vague idea. See that you are making short notes while reading the passage. You don't have to write complete sentences; write a word for an idea and move on. Don't hurry up with reading while you are practising. Take time to read, and once you become a good reader and comprehend things quickly, you will automatically read faster.

Hope this helps. All the best!

It depends on you. If you think it's worth reevaluating then, go ahead. If not, then it would be best if you take an effort to improve your writing skills. When it comes to IELTS writing, you need to understand the questions asked. Do not deviate your answers from the questions. If you don't answer according to the question, it's not going to help you.

Make sure your spelling is correct and get a list of vocabulary for each writing task. Ensure to work on complex sentence structures to get a good score. Linking words are very important too. You need to show the examiner the range of linking words to connect each of your sentences.

Start your preparation early, and make sure you track your progress. If required, seek expert guidance. Do not forget to practice with full-length tests under realistic situations for several weeks before the test date.

IELTS exam can be really tricky sometimes, so you need to put a lot of effort, hard work and dedication to nailing it. Be patience and practice more sessions to do better next time. Don't let the frustration and anxiety of not scoring well in the writing section get the better of you.

You can prepare for IELTS by yourself; there is no doubt about it. But for that, you should be focused and organised. Familiarise yourself with the test format by reviewing the contest as well as the question.

First practice with sample test questions. You should work out the official IELTS practice materials, and you can also consider a preparation course. When you register yourself to take this test, you'll also receive a practice book. But, you must start your preparation early, and make sure you track your progress.

The first and foremost tip is to understand the question asked by the interviewer. If you don't answer according to the question, it's not going to help you.

Make sure your spelling is correct when it comes to the writing section and get a list of vocabulary for each type of writing task. Also, you need to work on complex sentence structures to get a good score.

You can listen to news and documentaries on various topics in English and make sure to read books often. Work under a professional IELTS trainer and ask for feedback to your level. Towards the edge of your IELTS preparation, exercise with full-length tests under realistic situations, at least for a few weeks before the test date.

Hope this helps you. All the best!

The IELTS band score is between 1 to 9. To score a 9 in IELTS means you're an "expert" in English; if you score an 8, you're "very good" in English. Everyone wants to get a high band score, in fact, many test-takers are attempting IELTS several times to get 8+ due to different reasons.

In case to get an 8+, you need to be clear about these basic things.

1. Listen to English every day

2. Listen actively to a range of conversation

3. Have a strategy or skill

4. Practice wisely

5. Reflect on your mistakes

6. Focus on what to study

Remember that practice papers should be challenging because the IELTS exam is challenging. If you don't find practice papers challenging, you probably aren't practising carefully. Ensure to complete your practice papers under the same time situations that you will be in the exam. This will allow you to develop a solid time management strategy.

Take a notebook and a pen and make it a part of your habit to write down words that you consistently misspell, misspeak or mishear. If you appreciate what you are doing, you will find it easier to do it consistently. Studying doesn't always have to be tedious or difficult!

First of all, scoring the desired band score in the IELTS first attempt is always tough, especially if you're looking to score above band score 7 in each section. Prepare yourself well enough before taking the exam. If not, you'll waste a lot of time, energy and money too as this exam is costly. You'll have to pay around 13 thousand when you book your exam slot itself. Thus, ensure that you practice enough to clear it in the first attempt itself (it is tough but not impossible). This is to help you avoid thinking or worrying about taking it once more.

a. One of the best tips to crack IELTS is to practice, especially writing and reading as these two sections can be nerve-racking sometimes.

b. Learn new vocabulary and linking words to make your sentence appealing.

c. Try reading books every day and listen to the news and podcasts if possible. Start working on the complex sentence structures to get a good score.

d. To enhance your speaking skills, you must involve yourself in English as fully as possible. If required, get trained by a professional IELTS trainer and seek continuous feedback.

e. Start exercising with full-length tests under realistic situations for several weeks before the test date. You should prepare for this exam as early as possible because mugging up at the last-minute usually doesn't turn out well. Schedule yourself and finish off all the practice tests a week before.

Hope this helps!

If you have had English classes in your school for a reasonable period, then you will find this test comparatively easy. The best practise material is the booklet you will be receiving on signing up for the test.

For the listening section, it is advised to do more audio tests regularly, and you will ace it for sure. For reading, you just got to remember, not to assume anything. Please review your answers and also identify them where you went wrong, and do not repeat the same mistakes in the exam paper.

Coming to writing, you have to look at all kinds of graphs. Try to find some real IELTS books or mock test papers for help. Taking several mock tests and reference essays and letters will help you understand the overall writing format.

For speaking, it is all about being confident, and you have to forget that the examiner is not in front of you. Remember not to stammer, and keep your ideas clearly with no breaks.

It is very efficient to take some professional guidance as a start - either in a prep course or work with a tutor individually. Your teachers can suggest the most appropriate prep materials depending on your level and learning style.

As we all know, IELTS comprises four modules or sections, i.e., Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. You need to score well in all four parts to get the desired band score, be it for higher education or immigration process. First, you can start preparing with the difficult sections. Many test-takers find it hard to nail the writing and reading sections. There are so many tricky things to keep in mind when it comes to these two sections.

The listening and reading sections are comparatively easy to score as they are more manageable with proper practice. However, do not neglect these sections as they can be nerve-racking too.

Take as many demo tests or mock tests as possible. This is like a real-time IELTS test, which is scored by certified IELTS Trainers. It's precisely like IELTS, the same amount of difficulty and the same duration for each section, the only difference is that it is a practice exam. There are tons of free IELTS practice materials online or you can even take the help of books and friends who are good at English. You'll also get a reference/practice book from IDP or British Council when you book your exam slot.

IELTS is a tricky exam; every word you write or say, adds up to your score. So, make sure you're cautious when you speak or write anything in the test. If your someone who is already fluently in English, then it is easily manageable.
