Beginners find it hard to keep their fingers in position for a particular type of bol and that's why due to improper hand positioning, the bol they play does not sound the way it should and therefore the beginners try...

No. Tabla playing does not require a lot of strength. In fact it requires endurance. Beginners find it hard to keep their fingers in position for a particular type of bol and that's why due to improper hand positioning, the bol they play does not sound the way it should and therefore the beginners try to apply more power thereby exhausting themselves early. If the position of fingers is correct and you know the near exact amount of force to be applied for any bol, you will not be exhausting yourself by unnecessarily striking forcefully. That's why the initial classes only teach you how to keep your hands, fingers and in fact the entire body posture for effortless tabla playing. You see correct body posture and hand position is the key and that can be achieved through honest practise sessions. read less
