That's a fairly common complaint from discerning citizens such as yourself. In our country, the ability to talk in English is linked to intelligence and 'smartness.' Good communication skills exhibit one's ability to put their thoughts and ideas into words in an articulate manner but unfortunately, some people use simply being able to talk in English as an excuse to look down upon those who don't. According to the former, it's an indication of their socioeconomic standing in society, which is a debatable presumption. What we need to understand is that a person's ideas, beliefs and their conduct in society define who they are, not their ability to speak English. read less

Being snobby is a part of one's character. If anybody is snobby for knowing English, probably he/she has superiority complex. The same person will be snobby for any other reason too. It's not related to English, it's related to an individual's psychology.
