Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense tells us that an action is happening (taking place) now.

Examples: walk, talk, eat, sleep, dance, run, jump

 

When used for singular nouns or pronouns these verbs take the form

walks, talks, eats, sleeps, dances, runs, jumps

Examples:  He walks to school.

                 Diana talks to her neighbour.

                 The child eats a mango.

                 This is a deer.  It runs very fast.

 

When used for plural nouns or pronouns these verbs take the form.

walk, talk, eat, sleep, dance, run, jump

 

Examples:      They walk to school.

                      We talk to our neighbour.

                      The staff eat at this restaurant.

 

Exceptions are for pronouns ‘you’ and ‘I’

I walk to school.

You talk to your friend.

I eat at this restaurant.
