Few best things to follow are: Listen and watch English songs, shows and movies with subtitles.Don't ever hesitate to speak in English. Even if you make the mistakes, keep on communicating in English.Do not mug up any sentence formula.Understand English as a language like other languages (Eg Hind, Telugu, Kannada, etc.) not like a subject.Do not practice writing sentences or words.Last but not least, having thoughts like "I am not good in English" is more psychological. Due to these kinds of ideas, we tend to increase anxiety towards English. read less

Secondly, I would suggest you read English books which have more dialogues given in them. For example - comics. Further, start speaking in English with your friends and family who will encourage you to do so.One essential tip is never to translate sentences from Marathi to English to speak as it is wrong, and meaning and sentence formation changes sometimes.I hope these tips are useful. Is there any word in your mother tongue which has same pronunciation of an English word but different meaning(Homophone?) "Truth is stranger than fiction". A real incident which took place in Mumbai some 20 years back. An American landed In a foreign bank in Mumbai to do some audit work. He was provided with an attender to do a few menial jobs like opening/closing the door on his entry/exit.The American Officer found the assistant not closing the door whenever ordered to do so as he couldn't understand American accent.The American Officer made a complaint to Bank Manager. The Manager racked his brain and finally found a solution to this problem. He advised American Officer to say "There was a banker" instead of "Close the door". It worked out fine. "There was a banker" phonetically matched with DARWAZA BANDH KARO
