Why have the western stopes of the western ghats covered with thick forests and not the eastern slopes?

it is because the eastern slopes of the western ghat hill is rain shadow area.


Western slopes of western ghats are on the windward side and receive more rainfall from the moisture laden air coming from the Arabian seas than the eastern slopes which are on the lee ward side and receive less rain fall


It's because Indian experiences south-west monsoon. So, the monsoon strike first to west parts of western ghats and the eastern parts of western ghats is rain shadow area.
