What is the problem with singing off-key?

Answer 
Off key means you have not hit the right note or not hit it correctly... In an example it would be pronouncing someones name wrongly

The problem of singing off key is the pitch will not come properly either high or low pitch will come.

Yes, you can start. Its good to start at 7 if they are intrested, and yes obviously they can easily grasp. The only thing is required that they should have a singing voice. Many artists started at the age of 6 too.
