It becomes important to understand what is "Personality" when we speak about its development. Personality is defined as the dynamic organisation within the individual of those psychological systems that determne his/her unique adjustment to his/her environment.
To put it simply, Personality is the sum of traits or characteristics of a person and how they affect his/her response to life's situations.
There are many determinants of a person's personality viz,
1. Biological Factors like heredity, brain and physical features.
2. Family and Social Group Factors like home environment, family members.
3. Cultural Factors
4. Situational Factors
Personality directly impacts a person's behaviour and thus plays a vital role. As we saw there are many factors which builds personality and so is not very easy to modify. Still we can strengthen the factors which are required for us and reduce the elements which are unfavourable in order to develop a personality which is most effective. This can done by conscious efforts and suitable interventions.
