Martial Arts – Lesson : Introduction to Martial Arts
Objective:
Students will understand what martial arts are, their history, types, values, and basic techniques. They will also learn how martial arts help in physical and mental development.
▶️ What is Martial Arts?
Martial arts are systems of combat practices used for self-defense, physical fitness, mental discipline, and personal development. The word “martial” comes from Mars, the Roman god of war.
Martial arts are not just about fighting — they are about self-control, respect, discipline, and inner strength.
▶ History of Martial Arts
Martial arts have been practiced for thousands of years in many countries:
- China – Kung Fu
- Japan – Karate, Judo, Aikido
- Korea – Taekwondo
- Brazil – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Capoeira
- India – Kalaripayattu (one of the oldest martial arts)
